Debra SHIPMAN Obituary

SHIPMAN, Debra Michelle:
Formerly of Christchurch, Debbie died in her home in Dunedin, aged 58. Loved daughter of the late Ian and Margaret Shipman, adored and cherished by her many friends. We will always love and respect Debbie and remember her so fondly for her love of dogs, her passion for Bollywood movies and great coffee, her enjoyment of theatre, walking on the beach and the ability to find the quirky shops and best cafes. Debbie was a great friend; a fabulous host and brilliant tour guide and she will be so very missed by those who deeply mourn her passing. No funeral by request. All communication to P.O. Box 18635, Christchurch 8062.

So very sad to hear that Debbie is no longer with us. We were friends for over 30 years. So many memories. Walks on the beach with our dogs, movies, dinners, phone calls and long chats and visiting me in Sydney. A good friend, a good listener, generous and a great sense of humour. I will cherish our memories and will miss you very much. Rest in peace dear Debbie. Your Friend xx

I remember long nights with Deb in the dark control room at Armourguard in Byron St CHC. Always good for a laugh and very staunch - loved her doggies to bits

It’s a long time since I saw her last some 20 years but it sounds like she was the same wonderful eccentric person I knew and glad she had lots of friends. Last time I saw her I stayed at her house in New Brighton with my dog. She wasn’t that good at cleaning and the grass was nearly as high as the house but she was the perfect host and so very funny. Will miss her and wish I had kept in touch xxx From one Debbie to another

My friend from primary school we created so many wonderful memories: crazy, sumptuous afternoon teas that her mum laid on for us, great fun spooking ourselves (and others, we thought) with my melodica, sneaking the chooks in to her bedroom, gossiping all night during sleepovers. RIP my old friend.
