David RUSSELL Obituary

Born October 28, 1942. Our beloved Dave died quietly on September 25, 2025 at Karori Village, Wellington, aged 82 years, with his loved and loving wife, Louise Wrightson, at his side. David was deeply loved by his children Kelly, Rebecca, Shannon, Ben and Anna. He was a proud grandfather to Jack, Dave, Anicë, Sofia, Adam, Jordan and Ella, and a loving brother to Stephanie and Rosemary (dec). He was widely respected and admired for his work as a consumer champion. David has been cremated at a small, private ceremony. We plan a larger celebration of his life and many talents and achievements later in the year. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Parkinson's NZ parkinsons.org.nz. To the nurses and caregivers at Karori Village: we express our gratitude for the care they showed David. Before I knew Dave personally I saw him as a man of integrity, calm and with common sense - while CEO of Consumer NZ he seemed the voice of reasonableness for all NZ'ers. What a man he was - quiet humour, insightful, and so many great stories. Some wonderful afternoons shared with great tales and many laughs. What a wonderful life - and a treaure trove of memories for us all. Rest in peace Dave - and much aroha to Lousine and the family.
