Sending so much aroha to you Jan and the whole whanau. I used to enjoy my chats with David in the portacom where I´d pretend to know more about cricket than I did.

Our sincere condolences to Jan, Richard, Nicola and Emily and your extended families. We felt we knew you all with the stories he told of you all, all told with pride.
Thank you for sharing Dave with us, his cricketing colleagues. Our family grew to become friends with the nicest man around. He was a gem. When he was based in Dunedin for a while working for CYF he would come out to Mosgiel for a weekly evening meal which we as a family cherished, spending time outside of a cricket environment.
I spent a lot of time with Dave at cricket during his umpiring and Match Referee roles and after he retired from those commitments we have kept in regular contact.
Life will carry on but it just wont be the same without DQ. Rest easy old mate.

Our deepest sympathies to Jan and family for your sad loss of David, I was a cricketing team mate and a fellow umpire and had the honour of standing with Dave in my debut 1st class game at Lancaster Pk where He was such a calming influence helping me through, David was a guiding mentor to many umpires throughout his career and beyond always willing to offer wise advice, Dave will be sadly missed by all of us and his memory will live on.

My earlier condolence message has not appeared, so this is a repeat attempt.

My sincere condolences to the Quested whanau on the very sad loss of David, or Dave as I knew him. Dave was an impressive mentor and role model to others, and a very supportive and loyal friend and workmate who worked tirelessly for his community throughout a very productive life, suddenly cut short. We missed our rain-check catch-up over a coffee meet Dave, so I'll fall back on very fond memories of our chats over a Guinness or three during our visit to London a few years back. An outstanding experienced CIB supervisor who went out of his way to look out for his troops. Kind regards,

Who knew when you and Murray started at East Christchurch school together way back in 1951 we would still be enjoying a wonderful friendship with you and your Jan. Everyone is going to miss everything you did to make us feel special, especially Jan, Richard, Nicola and Emily. You were the best Umpah to your grandbabies. Travel well gentle man.

To the Family
Dave was a lovely, genuine person who made a big contribution to the community through his Police service and to cricket as a player and umpire.
I always enjoyed playing with him in the Police, Inter-services and Combined Services ... less so when, occasionally, on the wrong end of his finger.
