So sorry to hear the passing of Dave. He was the coach of our Avon novice eight in 1976-77 season.
A very patient man with great dedication, training every night except Friday, and again Saturday and Sunday. As 18 -20 year olds we didn't realize the demands on his family time. He was a very mild mannered focussed coach and was able to bring the crew together so well.
We went on to win the New Zealand champs at Lake Horowhenua in 1977. Great memories!
Obviously a man of great faith as well. May he rest in peace.

My condolence to the lovely Dave Husbands family. Dave was my first coach in Christchurch, I joined Avon on arrival from Canada some 25 years ago. Together we had a successful season that year winning the 8 and 4. In the years since I thoroughly enjoy catching up with him on Wednesday mornings, they just won´t be the same without him. May he rest in peace knowing he made a significant difference in the sport of Rowing. Deb Hymers-Ross, Club Captain, Union Rowing Club.
