David HASTINGS Obituary

On October 2, 2025, peacefully in Christchurch Hospital, aged 84 years. Dearly loved husband of Dorothy Whitford-Hastings, and the late Mary Hastings. Loved and respected father of Sandy, Ross, Dawn, Jane and father-in-law of Bruce, Tracey and Andy. Adored Poppa and Superpop of his 13 grandchildren and their partners, and 15 great-grandchildren. Lovingly embraced by Dorothy's family Jenny, Deanne, Perry, Vaughn and Rebecca, and their wider families. Loved son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and minister whose faith and kindness touched many lives in New Zealand, the Solomon Islands and Fiji. Now in God's eternal care. A service to celebrate David's life will be held at St Columba's Anglican Church, 452 Main South Road, Hornby, on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 11.00am. David requested that in lieu of flowers, donations to Bible Society New Zealand would be appreciated, either at the service or by online donation (biblesociety.org.nz).
