The tears of Rangi have today been watering the trees that Darren planted in Auckland. They are a living memorial to him. Helen

Goodbye my old friend. It's been a privilege to make memories together. We first met in 1991. You ran the bar at my wedding in 1993. For 8 years in Rotorua you would pop in once a week for a meal. We went to music festivals together and had such great times. You had a fantastic garden which was your passion. We were there at the start and finish of your greatest achievement running the Rotorua Marathon. We have been blessed to have you in our lives. Your last visit to Queensland was awesome. Will miss you greatly Darren.

Darren came into my life as a teenager and was a role model for me as a gentle vegetarian, patient native bush enthusiast and as a peaceful dog lover. I appreciate you taking time to travel and meet me, my husband Greg and your Nephews Isaac and Felix and Niece Cora each time we visited New Zealand over the last 10 years. You are home for us and we will miss you.

I met Darren in 1988 and was immediately drawn to him through our mutual love of music....his peace ,love and mungbean way of being was also refreshing to see....I have many fond blurry eyed memories of our time together and am still getting my head around that my young friend is no longer with us..... you're on the other side now and are at peace..
