Slipped away peacefully at Sprott House on January 26, 2017. Beloved wife of the late Dr Jack Salas, and very much loved mother of Felicity, Jo, Jan, Rosie, David, and Patrick; mother-in-law of Richard, Jonathan, Peter, Deborah, and Kasia; grandmother of Hannah, Maddy, Rachel, Miranda, Georgia, Audrey, Milo, and Lucie; and great-grandmother of Ruben, Rio, Beth, Anya, and Ruth. Messages may be sent c/- 306 Willis Street, Wellington, or via www.heavenaddress.co.nz Laurie was a devoted and loving wife and mother, and a tireless worker for international relations, peace, and the rights of women everywhere. Laurie's funeral and celebration of her life will be held at Old St Paul's, Mulgrave Street, Wellington, at 11.00am on Thursday, February 2, 2017.

I was very sad to hear of Laurie's death from Auckland WILPF members. She was a much valued friend of my mother Betty Holt (1909-1998) and was always good to me too. I recall the fact that she invariably gave me a little present as a memento of any visit she made. I regret I have not been able to visit her in Wellington in the last few years. We last met when she came to Auckland not long after after I moved back here in 2009 from Wellington, when she and Jack visited me in my new home in Mt Albert. Barbara Holt

Dame Laurie was so astonishingly intelligent to her very last breath. She was a true gentlewoman and she certainly raised the bar in terms of being respectful ,courteous and yet retaining a wicked sense of humour. Thankyou for allowing us to know you even at this last stage of your life.
