- Constance Mae "Connie" MacKinnon, age 83, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025 surrounded by loved ones.

Connie was born on March 7, 1942 and was raised in Houlton, Maine. Connie carried a love for her hometown throughout her life. She enjoyed returning to Maine in the summer to a cherished lakeside cabin near Houlton, built by her father - a place filled with memories, family, and deep comfort.

Connie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her loving husband Peter MacKinnon; her five children, Peter Jr., Rebekah (Craig), Leah (Zac), Rachel (Allen), and Keith (Paul); 13 grandchildren - Austin, Winter, Hunter, Taylor, McKay, Monson, Maxwell, MacKenna, Josie, Hannah, Emily, Oriana, and Abigail - and four great-grandchildren, Reneya, Maverick, Ozias, and Huntley. Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Ellery and Marion Anderson, and her brothers, Keith Anderson and Rodney Anderson.

In her twenties, Connie began a life-long career working for the phone company as a telephone operator in Boston, Massachusetts. A couple of years later she requested a transfer, and moved across the country to work and to live with an aunt in Portland, Oregon. While living there, she was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 27, 1963, and thus began nurturing an unwavering testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ and the Plan of Salvation. As a new convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she decided to serve a mission, and was called to serve as a missionary in Canada. In an act of commitment and faith, she funded her mission by selling her beloved Volkswagon Beetle. Upon returning from her mission, she enrolled as a student at Brigham Young University, and there she met and married Peter R. MacKinnon in 1970.

When her children were young, Connie was deeply involved in scouting. She was an active Cub Scout den mother with her sons, and a dedicated Girl Scout leader with her daughters. Every year she helped her daughters sell thousands of boxes of Girl Scout cookies in order to raise money to send them to summer camp. In addition to serving many callings in the church and volunteering as a scout leader, Connie lived to serve others and loved to volunteer her time for many different organizations and causes.

From the time she joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Connie loved doing Family History Research and then completing her ancestor's temple work. She had a lifelong passion for researching and preserving her family history. After a long break to raise a family, Connie realized her goal of earning an Associate's Degree in Genealogy from Brigham Young University in 1994. She also belonged to many Associations such as The Daughters of the American Revolution, The Colonial Dames, and the Mayflower Society. She was even an honorary member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Connie also loved travel, and was fortunate to visit many places around the world.

As a grandmother, Connie delighted in taking her grandchildren on adventures - to the museum, the park, or camping - creating moments of joy, learning, and connection they will always carry with them.

Connie was loving to a fault - she simply could not say no. If you needed her, she was there, no questions asked. Connie's kindness, strength, determination, and unwavering faith will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the family she loved so fiercely and the countless lives she touched through her generosity and care. Through her tireless research and temple work, she will be known and loved as a Savior on Mount Zion for many in this life and to hundreds beyond the veil.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at the Midvale 7th Ward LDS Chapel. A viewing will be held from 9:00am–10:30am, followed by the funeral service at 11:00am.
