Colin will be a huge loss to family, friends and community. I was fortunate to have Colin as a workmate at Wade´s building and also to have his company in the pipe band. A special highlight was when he accompanied Alan Braddick,Julie and myself on the Otago bike trail at the age of 84. We will miss his regular phone calls and visits playing the pipes on our deck.
Our deepest condolences to Cheryl,Graeme,Marie and families.
Never forgotten and always in our hearts.

To honour the loveliest Uncle Colin McKinnon. You lived life generously and brightly; always welcoming friends and family into your home garden with cheer and a sweet zest for life. I will miss your uniquely special wink and smile...a living legend. Sending my love and prayers to Graeme, Cheryl, Marie and families may you be comforted in love.

Colin was a kind and considerate brother -in -law to us and a splendid Uncle to our 3 children. Whenever we came home from our life in Africa Australia or USA he was always ready to welcome us and for the kids to have an uncle who drove the milk truck, served in the fire brigade and in the pipe band it was extra special. We had hoped to spend older years enjoying Colin and Clara ' company but this was denied us in her unexpected early death. In later years we have enjoyed our long telephone chats and these always included a thorough review of all things rugby from the All Blacks to the Crusaders to South Canterbury [how good they were in recent seasons] and MacKenzie. Our deepest sympathy to Graeme,Cheryl and Marie and families. We are sad that we cannot be with you to farewell such a great man. Blessings on you all

2022 and Colin leaves us, we have known one another since we both started in primary school about 1934 (born 1929) I moved to Timaru in1942 then Wellington and then Auckland but we have kept in touch all those years. Occasional phone calls limited face to face meetings but a long friendship over 88 years. I count myself very lucky to have known Colin all that time.
My sincere commiserations to you that are family and others that have been much closer than I
have.
Goodby Colin. John

Colin was a great mate (& best man) to my dad (Peter Williams) After we moved to ChCh in '64 we used to go & see him when we ever went back to Fairlie & always got a great reception. Went and looked him up when I was down a year or 2ago & he immediately recognised me even though we hadn't really seen each other for over 30 years or so. Unfortunatly Im not able to be there for the funeral but my thoughts are with all R.I.P Mr Mckinnon
