Clive COTTON Obituary

COTTON, Clive Graham - Passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 2, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his family. Most dearly loved husband and best friend of Val, dearly loved father of Kim Garnett, David and Moana Cotton, Lee and Grant Orpwood, Lyn Cotton and Cam Lill, Jan and Roland Ipenburg. A much loved grandfather and great-grandfather. You lovingly nurtured us, tended to our needs and gave us the freedom and support to fly and reach our dreams. You will always be in our hearts and held very dear to us. A life of service to teaching, the church and community. You walked the pathway of your life hand in hand with Jesus, a good and faithful servant. Our heartfelt thanks to Rangiora Nurse Maude who enabled us to keep him at home. Clive loved his garden - we invite you to bring a flower to place on his casket. A Celebration of Clive's life will be held in the John Rhind Chapel, entry from and London and Whitmore Streets, Christchurch, on Monday, February 10, at 10.00 a.m.

COTTON, Clive Graham — Dearly beloved father of Kim, grandad of Josh, and great-grandad of Luc Garnett.
Old buddy, you will long be remembered for your prodigious energy, love, sincerity, compassion, wisdom, story-telling and song. Your devotion to the education of children and the wider community stands as a beacon for others, most especially your belief that education should reflect the goals and values of the communities it served from it’s heart (centre), rather than be determined and imposed from above. You were a clear-sighted man of vision and integrity who will be deeply missed. After such a valiant struggle, you heard the owl call your name. Bless.
