My thoughts are with you all during this day of remembrance

Beth Ataria, (Barton)

I remember Cliff well. My mother, Molly Barton (McLeod) and her mother Bessie Baird (McLeod) and stepfather Alex Baird lived with the Parker Family in Ettrick for a time, perhaps 90 years ago?
I went , with older brother John Barton to Ettrick school and then Roxbugh High School. Cliff was a real character and I often played tennis with him, and I remember the dances both at school and in the Ettrick Hall. Cliff was always the first to ask a partner up for a dance, and so got the hall rocking! I remember him as a good bloke, only caught up with him once after we'd moved to Canterbury, at the time of the Ettrick school closing. He made sure we, my dad Frazer Barton and me, were comfortable and updated with local news.
Sending my condolences to his family.
Haere ra, e hoa.
