Such sad news to hear of Chris's passing on. I knew Chris since he was a young child growing up in Gleniti and then crossed paths with him in my Deaf Education years. His watm personality shone through always. He was an inspiration to many. Rest in Peace Chris.

Chris was a tremendous young man who will be missed by many. He willingly taught us about his life and being Deafblind.

I have a much treasured leather bag made by him.

May you rest in peace.

I have just got back from France to hear that Chris has passed away. I am so very sorry Nic, it has been so stressful for you since Margaret died. I had thought that they have found a way to help Chris, but sadly not so. You have been a wonderful sister to Chris and I am sure he would say the same. It's so hard to let a loved one go, but in this instance for Chris, the no more suffering and peace would have allowed you to understand and wish him well on his journey. He was a bright and playful spark. There was no one like him and he lit up the lives of people he came into contact with. My condolences and love. Krissy Rhodes

Hi Nicola and Dean and family, so sorry for the loss of Chris who was a heap of fun, very fast with his signing but you understood what he was saying, he loved being on the back of a motorbike going forth and back from Christchurch and Timaru. He loved everybody and he certainly had a sense of humor . I knew of Chris right from when he was little and we used to see him at the Deaf Club on a Friday night it was such a pleasure knowing Chris. Love to you both and of the family

I have lots of fond childhood memories with Chris and remember the first day we met. I still used the sign language we learnt occasionally with patients at my work. Chris never missed a beat and had a great sense of humour. I loved getting my annual happy to you birthday message. How on earth he remembered I don't know - but testament to just another astonishing character trait of his. You will be missed. RIP Kate and Amelia Whytock. Thoughts with Nicola and family.
