Christopher MAY Obituary

aged 63, on the evening of Thursday, December 14, 2023, after a brief illness. Loved brother of Jeff and Philippa (Pip), uncle of Oliver, Hayley and Ella; son of the late Philip Ross May and the late Doris May; brother-in-law of Sharron and John. During this incredibly tough time, the care and compassion from the staff at Bishop Selwyn and Christchurch Hospital made a huge difference, and the family extend their thanks. To say that Chris touched the lives of many people is an understatement and his influence on others was profound. A get-together next year will be an opportunity for everyone to share stories and memories from Chris' rich and interesting life. Messages to the May family C/- PO Box 111-01, Christchurch 8443. A Private Cremation for Chris will be held.

It is New Years Day as I write this dearest Chris. 24 years since we welcomed in the new Millennium together. I have only recently learned of your passing and the reality that you are not here to begin this new year. And I am so very sad.

Thank you, my beloved friend,for all that you gave to. me and for all that you taught me.

Thank you for our conversations; over coffee, walking in the forest, sitting in the sunshine by the river,talking into the night. Thank you for the books, music, films and ideas you introduced me to; for the evenings dancing; for the lentil soup and home baked bread; for the book cases you built; for the room of ferns that grew at your touch. Thank you for your humour, curiosity, laughter and stories; for the songs you sang to me and letters you wrote me, for your insight, grace, clarity and compassion. Thank you for your wisdom, strength and the kindness that defined your life. Thank you dearest Chris, for all and everything over so many years.

Rest in peace my beloved friend.
