So sorry to learn about Brian's death. I am a distant cousin in the UK, and we exchanged information about our common Irish ancestors in the 19th century. My condolences to all of his NZ family.

Wendy and Bryan's family - in grieving for Bryan I trust he will be true to his words to me a couple of weeks ago about planning his funeral to be a celebration - of his and your lives together. Since working together briefly 30 years ago, for different and at times, rival councils, I have many memories of parties with Wendy (and Moira's) workmates and our own regular lunch and dinner catch-ups. The conversation was more often about art, environmental and social issues than our own particular consulting projects, and putting the world to right at least kept the dogs entertained. I am in awe of how he sustained his natural humour and humility even during his darkest days. He quietly devoted much of his time to his Ponsonby and Christchurch communities, and still paced like a hero through these last brutal months. Rest in peace Bryan, Kelvin and Moira.

Bryan was a member of the Community-Led Design (volunteer) group that has for 9 years, advocated for the new civic space at 254 Ponsonby Road. He donated countless hours to the project to ensure it would not only be achieved, but that it would be a wonderful success. This new civic park is now under construction and it is extremely sad that he will not get to see the fruits of his labour and its completion.
Yet when we visit the park, we will remember him; his infectious smile, gentle manner and wisdom. He has been a great friend and colleague and we will miss him.
Arohanui.

Our condolences - sorry to hear of Bryan's passing. We flatted with Bryan for a few months in Stratford (before we were married and bought our own house) and worked with him at the Taranaki Catchment Commission.

Bryan was a much loved cousin and we miss him greatly. The many hours we spent sifting through family history notes and solving puzzles. Our shared love of conservation and animals. Years of running with Bruce. Bryan was always so supportive and kind to our family. We send all our love to Wendy, Noeleen, Lyn and Ross.
