We met when I was an 18 year old to work for you in Papanui. What a great boss which turned into a lifetime friendship. You and May came to my wedding and the friendship just kept lasting. We stayed a while with you on the coast a couple of times, that was great. After Ray died our friendship stayed and when you went to O'Connor retirement home you would ring me fortnightly talking about the old days and fun we'd all had.I will miss you so much Brucie and the fantastic friendship we shared for 62 years wherever we all lived.I will miss you so much.Nancy.

The power of radio is only as strong as the personalities on it and you Brucie had the power to silence the Newstalk ZB listeners as we listened and took in your every word.
My one regret is not getting to shake your hand Brucie. R.I.P

We were so saddened to learn of Little Brucie's death. We will miss visiting him at O'Connor Home when we are in Westport. Brucie had a wealth of knowledge and loved nothing more than sharing it with others. His sense of humour will be greatly missed by us who he leaves behind, but I can hear him up there with the angels. Brucie will be missed by those who heard him in the early hours of the morning, chatting with the Talkback Radio host and by his many friends. We send our deepest sympathy to Brucie's family and regret that we are unable to show our respect in Westport. We are presently in the North Island.

Bruce's chatty and modulated voice was always something to look forward to during the early hours of talkback on Newstalk ZB. Stories from his grocery shop in Merivale and his amazing memory of days gone by
- both from within the trade and of early Christchurch.
Then from his retirement retreat near the bush and sea at Little Wanganui, ( latterly O'Connor Retirment home) he shared many tales of his adventures there and of course, there was always that next delivery of Bluff oysters due.
Brucie (radar), thanks for the memory and the entertaining yarns. You will be so missed.
May you Rest In Peace

Our Deepest sympathy goes to all his family. We went to see Little Brucie in late September and he was so pleased to see us. He was really good then took us into the lounge to meet all his friends told us heaps of stories. We could have stayed for hours. We are really going to miss him it was worthwhile staying awake every night until he had rung up then we could sleep. Have a lovely photo we took that day with him in his 4 square tee shirt.
