Bruce's career and his achievements speak for themselves. His work (at Lincoln, for the National Development Conference, for the OECD on trade policy and then as Director General of Agriculture) mark him out as a visionary leader and thinker. We should all be grateful for his work and his achievements. But alongside that, he was also a supportive, warm, kind and engaging colleague, with a great sense of humour. We have lost a great man.

Hello Gill
I am Carol Kingsland, Sec to the Registrar etc of Lincoln University I remember Bruce well but you more particularly. I just have you in my prayers and mind wishing you every solace and peace in the loss of Bruce after 3 decades of happily married life. We all have different remembrances of Bruce but my rememerance is of you in particular. You were always happy and inclusive and non-snobby and willing to take on whatever came your way. I remember Bruce in not such positive ways but you I do. Therefore I wish you and your family much peace and joyful remembrances as you continue on life's journey,
with much best wishes

My condolences to Bruce's family. I worked with him at Lincoln in the 60s, on energy research in the 70s and then the Public Service. He was a fine economist, a decent man with a wonderful sense of humour.

Gill and Family,
sending you our deepest condolences at the loss of Bruce. All of us at the Neurological Foundation send you our love and thoughts during this sad time.
Margie Carter and I have so valued the opportunities we've had to meet with you both over the years, sharing some of the important research underway with Parkinson's disease. We have so valued your passion, interest and advocacy for the work of neuroscientists around NZ.
Thinking of you all!

As a lecturer, professor, senior manager (VC at Lincoln, and DG at MAF) and so forth, Prof Ross was not only a sharp thinker and strategic leader, he was also a person of empathy and compassion who interacted with people as equals. His wisdom, along with his smile and sense of humour, meant he could influence good decision-making. The world is a better place from his life endeavours and may his family be proud and also take comfort in their time of sad personal loss. Kia kaha

Dear Gill
At last Bruce is at peace after an exhausting battle with PD. While it must be a relief for him it is still a great loss to you and your children and the end of a wonderful life together.
He was a greatly respected colleague who attained great things in his professional life. It was a privilege to share our undergraduate years at Lincoln and he will be missed by so many.
Love
