Brian ROONEY Obituary
On January 5, 2021, passed away peacefully at Princes Court Lifecare, Ashburton, with his family beside him, in his 93rd year. Loved husband of Kathleen. Loved father and father-in-law of Kathleen and Kevin Bargent, Pete Rooney and Wendy Wills, Sue and Rolfe Stevens. Loved grandfather of all his grandchildren. Messages to the Rooney family, c/- PO Box 472, Ashburton 7740. Our grateful thanks to the staff at Princes Court for their loving care of Brian. In lieu of flowers, donations to St John Ambulance or St Vincent de Paul would be much appreciated and may be left at the service. A Requiem Mass to celebrate Brian's life will be held at the Church of the Holy Name, Sealy Street, Ashburton, on Friday, January 8, commencing at 1.30pm, followed by interment at the Ashburton New Lawn Cemetery.

Thank you Kathleen for sharing this news about your dad. Your parents were so kind to me by giving me a job on their farm and a place to stay in your home the first 3 months of my working holiday in New Zealand in 1973-74. My wife, Barb, and I were pleased when they took time on their trip to our country to come and spend a couple days with us. I learned a lot from your Dad about crops that grow in your climate and about raising sheep. Condolences to your Mom, and to you, Pete and Sue. Keith Sexton, Iowa, USA
