Bernard FAIRBRASS Obituary

I miss you Grand-Pop, I wish I had spent more time with you as an adult, but as mum mentioned it was difficult to catch you as you always doing something cool to do with vintage cars, motorbikes or some adventure. I have wonderful memories as a child staying at Waitaki St with you and Grandma. The garage was like a treasure house, I have great memories of playing games down there with my siblings amongst your trinkets, also singing and playing songs on the organ/piano such as 'Daisy Bell' to you and grandma, in the dining room kitchen, that maintained it decor through my childhood into 40's. I cherish when did I see or chat with you, you were very easy to talk to, considerate and had a sense of humour, My Dad, your son in-law, speaks so highly of you every time I mention you, he always says, "Bernie was so kind, he was very good to me, he was my Dad, I loved him". I especially thank you for listening when I came on holiday, your empathy when I discussed my feelings as being victim in a personal matter helped me in that rough patch. I have videos and photos doing the freeze challenge I look at occasionally, smiling at the moments.
My nephew has been asking about his genealogy, he's very interested and has found the links to your Dad's and Grandfathers information. Your great grandchildren are wonderful boys and now men. There's a baby on the way too. Lots of love always, Venessa

Sorry to hear of Bernie's passing. A lovely man. Met Bernie through Search & Rescue and a memory of us in a helicopter at Mt. Cook is a stand out. Been a while since I last saw him when we happened to meet at a fish and chip shop. R.I.P. Bernie.

Bernie was a great friend of my dad's, enjoying car runs together etc..we will miss your yarns Bernie..condolences to Lyn and families at this sad time
