Benjamin GRICE Obituary

Dear Whanau,

I attended St Michael's with Ben some years ago. I have distinct memories of performing Kapahaka with him, and the courage we received from having Ben in our roopu. He was really one of a kind. My deepest condolences to your whanau.

To Diana and whanau - Ka aroha hoki - I am so sorry to learn that your precious Benny has died. The death of a child is a grief beyond words. You never stop loving, you never forget. You continue to live as best you can; Ben will be forever in your hearts. Because, no matter what platitudes may be trotted out, grief is not finite. There is no endpoint. It is not something to 'get over'. But it is something, that eventually you learn to live with. Na koutou i tangi, na tatau katoa.

I was very sad to read that Benny has died. I remember him very fondly. So many years ago he faced his illness with a gorgeous mixture of stoicism and sweetness. He was such a brave little boy. Fly free Benny - you were one of a kind!

I was deeply saddened to learn of Ben´s death and my heart goes out to you all. I have special memories of Benny being a really brave and courageous boy who was an inspiration to everyone at St Michaels when he was just 7 years old. I am devastated to read of Ben´s passing. From a very young age when he was at St Michael´s he left his mark on my life with his courage. He was a true inspiration as were you all. He has never been far from my thoughts over the years. My only regret is that we lost touch and I never had the chance to meet the fine young man he became. My love and prayers to you all as you navigate the huge hole he will leave in your lives
