Basil Patrick (Bart):
Suddenly at Auckland Hospital on Saturday, January 28, 2023. Dearly loved husband of Margaret Connolly, and the late Anne. Much loved father and father-in-law of Shane and Lisa (Christchurch), Justin and Meg (Geraldine), Matthew (Timaru), and Hamish and Kate (Christchurch). Much loved Grandad of James, Will and Louis; Rachel, Tara and Finn; Vincent, Daniel and Olivia, and Charlie, Minnie and Ellie. Respected friend of Lucy Passos and Paul, the late Tim and Brendon Connolly.
May he rest in peace.

A Funeral Mass to celebrate the life of Basil will be held at the Church of the Holy Name, Sealy Street, Ashburton, on Friday, February 3, commencing at 1.30pm, followed by interment at the Ashburton New Lawn Cemetery.

A prefect and my dining table prefect in my first year boarding at St Bedes. It could b made tuff for 3rd formers tossed in the deep end but not by Baz. Treated everyone with respect, kept order as required but always in genial fashion. That was 1955 and I still remember. Can't say more for him than that
