Barry COMPTON Obituary

On Tuesday, October 14, 2025, aged 82 years, Barry passed away peacefully at his home in Oamaru with Shirl and family, as he wished, after a long illness bravely and patiently fought. Adored, dearly loved and loving husband of Shirley (Shirl). Much loved and loving father and father-in-law of Caroline and Danny Scott (Christchurch), Murray and Pisa (Oamaru), Mandy and Peter Mason (Oamaru). Treasured Grandad of Gaby, Frankie, Jess, Ryan, Bradley, Daphnee, Milo and Iris, who gave him such joy. Loved son of the late Reginald and Vera Compton of Methven, and loved brother and brother in law of Kevin, Valda and the late Mick White (Gisborne), brother in law of Shirley's family. A loved uncle of all his nieces and nephews. A friend to many. Barry's family wish to thank Hato Hone St John, all the medical teams, doctors, nurses and carers who helped Barry and the family - with special thanks to Kay and Karen, also all family and friends who visited and helped us over the years. Barry's funeral service will be held at Whitestone Chapel, 54 Weston Road, Oamaru, on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at 2.00pm.
