Barrie CALDER Obituary
Surrounded by his loving family, Barrie passed away unexpectedly in Greymouth on September 29, 2025, aged 66. The most amazing husband and best friend of Linda, proud and loving Dad of Cailin and Louis, Rhian and Connor, Felicia and Jack, and the late Ethan, doting Grandad of his little Ellie, cherished eldest son of the late John and Isabel, loved brother and brother-in-law of Rayna, Tony (deceased) and Tracey, and Adele, loved son-in-law of Lorainne and the late Graham Hughes, loved brother-in-law of Diane and Paul Emery, and the late Alison, a loved uncle, respected manager, work colleague and a friend of many. Barrie was a quiet, gentle, calming man who was selfless in his support of all who crossed his path. He will be so deeply missed. Messages to 11 Tasman View Road, Paroa, Greymouth 7805. A farewell to celebrate Barrie's life will be held in the Miner's Hall at Shantytown, Rutherglen, on Friday at 2.00pm, followed by cremation here on the Coast at the Westland Crematorium.

I met Barrie the same time Linda did, and had a front row seat to their burgeoning romance knowing how well matched they were.
A few years later, Barrie was behind the camera at my own wedding, capturing the kind of photos that hold memories forever. I was really pleased to catch up with him and Linda again last year in Brisbane-it felt like no time had passed.
He was such a calm and caring man, and I´m sad I won´t be at the gathering on Friday in person. I´ll be there in spirit, remembering an amazing person and the quiet presence felt by so many.
