Barbara Cortez Franks- You are so missed by your partner Pieter and family, including Raphael, your grandson who I know you were so proud of, and family. I miss you too more than you know. It's not just that you were an icon in NZ, being our Elder Goth of Canterbury, being a Crone (meaning elder wise woman), being a fashion icon who always wore gothic clothing -black from head to foot and who always looked so beautiful and young ( despite your years). It is not that you were writing the most fabulous real book, a history of Canterbury with wonderful real stories from your amazing , adventurous, artistic life. It's not that you had your fashion, home, and cars style down better than even Gothic- Vogue magazine could muster and it's not that you were so sweet, eccentric and lovely!!! -It's more that you delighted everyone you met and you were so real with people- all of them. It's that you were - or are- one of the most honest beings I have ever met. You were so loving and kind and gentle and strong. Visiting you was one of the best experiences of my life and I always came away richer from the experience. Barbara I love you with all my heart and soul and I will miss you terribly, and I wish you all the best on your journey of the soul where I know you will do well, as you are an enlightened being. Goodbye dear friend! We will see each other on the other side. ❤

Condolences to the family, to Pieter, and to all who knew and loved Barbara. Her presence in the world is very much missed by so many. A truly beautiful person inside and out, her friendship was a joy and a privilege, and my life is so much better for having known her. Rest in Peace Barbara. xxx
