Barbara EDWARDS Obituary

I've just found out. Barbara was my dance teacher throughout all my youth, and she made me into a champion, both in dance and in life. Condolences, and a celebration of a terrific life! Thank you for everything!

We are deeply sorry for your loss. We hold such lovely memories of Barbara teaching Daniel Nikolaison and Melita Elley in particular all those years ago. The Edwards Dance Academy and the elegance of Maurice and Barbara as an amazing couple are standout memories for all of us and the highlight of our lives back then were all the glamorous and exciting competitions. To the Edwards family, It was with sadness reading of Barbara's passing last night. I have fond memories of her as a parent many years ago when I taught the girls in Year 2. My sincere condolences to Maurice and family at the sad loss of Barbara, a wife, a mother and a dance partner.. Many happy memories of dancing at the Edwards Studio, Wednesday nights and the Monte Carlo when Maurice was cutting the cards and about to reveal the card Barbara would ask us if we wanted to move corners, she was usually right, dancing lessons when Barbara would ask a question of Maurice " Is that right Maurice?" He would always answer "Yes" with a smile.The wonderful New Years Eve dance was a highlight of the year for all the dancers. Barbara gave so much to the Christchurch dance community and New Zealand. You both were an amazing team working together 24/7. Thank you for the many, many hours you both worked to help all dancers find the love you had for dancing. May you dance to your hearts desire forever in our memories. Rest in Peace Barbara. XOXOX
