Averil ELLMERS Obituary

ELLMERS,
Averil June (June):
(of Kaiapoi) On September 5, 2018, passed away peacefully at Christchurch Hospital surrounded by her loving family, after a short illness. Dearly loved wife of John for 47 years. Loved and cherished Mum of Leigh and Katrina, treasured Grandma of Ashleigh and Reneé. Esteemed mother-in-law of Jody Hunter, Andrew Metherell, and Russell Hazelwood. June was a loved sister, sister-in-law and aunty.
"When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little, but not to long,
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love and friendship that we once shared,
Miss me but let me go."
A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Ballarat Rest Home for their care of June. Messages may be sent to the Ellmers Family C/- PO Box 263, Kaiapoi 7644. In accordance with June's wishes a private cremation has been held.

On Wednesday 5th September 2018 the woman who brought me into this world departed it peacefully, and is now at rest. Yesterday she looked beautiful. I was very much a proud daughter. I sent June off exactly how she wanted, and to honour my mother and support my father that way, was one of most humbling privileges I have experienced in this life. For that I will be forever grateful. Mum, your legacy lives on through me and your granddaughters. Sleep peacefully in that knowledge, and know how very loved you are. I will take good care of Dad. Thank you for the honour to have called you my mother. For the good and bad times we shared.
I would like to share a poem that ironically a special friend also shared with me in remembrance of you, my dear Mum.
"We shall not make it out alive. The oceans will outlive us, the trees will outgrow us and this body will run it's course.
However, we can leave something behind more solid than bricks and mortar, more binding than any written word. We can sprinkle the magic of ourselves, our essence, our goodness, and our intentions on other people, places and things.
We can leave fragments of our love held by time, caught in moments and everlasting in memories. We live on through love".
Special thanks and much love from me to Russell Hazelwood, Jody Hunter, Ashleigh and Renée Hunter for supporting me through Mum's last weeks. You are all so special to me, and Mum loved you also, so very dearly.❤❤❤❤
