I knew Arthur as a result of my Mum and Dad. We arrived on the sailing before him and June and came to be close friends at the Tasman Hostel in Lyttelton. Mum and Dad became Aunt and Uncle to the children and we spent many happy times together. Arthur did me the honour of speaking at my Dasd´s funeral and I would very much have like to repay the debt by speaking at his funeral. Unfortunately I am currently overseas so will be unable to attend.
Arthur was one of the world´s true gentleman, loved and admired by all and will be solely missed by us all. He always had times to listen to my problems and more than once offered me great advice.
Arthur you will be missed by all of us and I no doubt that you are currently sitting down with all your old friends remembering the past.
You might be gone but you will not be forgotten. Farewell my adopted uncle I look forward to catching up with you at some future day.
Barry
