Dame Aroha Hohipera
(DNZM, CBE, JP):
Ngāi Tūāhuriri, Ngāi Tahu. Āwhina o te Haahi Ratana. Past President, Māori Women's Welfare League. Passed away on May 20, 2022, at Christchurch Hospital, surrounded by her whanau, at 83 years of age. Beloved mother to Amiria, Tim and Huia and the late George. Dearly loved sister, taua, mother-in-law, aunt, cousin and a great mate to many. Aroha will lay in state at Tuahiwi Marae, 219 Tuahiwi Road, Tuahiwi, from 12.00pm on Monday, May 23. Aroha's Funeral Service will be at Tuahiwi Marae on Tuesday, May 24, at 1.00pm, followed by her burial at Te Uruti Urupā, guests then invited to the marae for hākari.
