Annette Huggins Obituary

Annette "Netsie" L. Huggins
May 3, 1937 - February 10, 2026
Marie Annette Odile Lapeyre Huggins, lovingly known as Netsie and as Mimi to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, was born on May 3, 1937, in Houma, Louisiana. She entered eternal life peacefully on February 10, 2026, surrounded by her family, faith, and a lifetime of beautiful memories.
Netsie graduated from Incarnate Word College in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics. On August 2, 1958, she married the love of her life, Woodson Anthony "Woody" Huggins. Their sixty-two years of marriage were filled with devotion, laughter, faith, and a deep love of family.
As a young woman she was active in the Cecilian Choristers, Kappa Lambda Kappa, and the Sodality of Our Lady. Her faith remained the center of her life, guiding her with grace, warmth, and quiet strength. Netsie treasured her 60 years with the Sacred Heart Family Guild, a devoted community built on their Catholic faith, service, and enduring friendship.
She is survived by her brother Harold Lapeyre and her sister Alice Louise Vales. She leaves behind her children Emile and Laura Huggins, Thomas and Karen Huggins, Chris and Susan Huggins, Harold and Melissa Huggins, and Alice and Rick Linahan. Her grandchildren Krista Sprague, Luke and Jake Huggins, Natalie and Logan Brown, Marshall Huggins, Zachary and Sarah Huggins, Emily and Brett Soderdahl, Eric, Elise and Emile Huggins, Danny David and Kori Linahan, Annette Linahan, and Cody Linahan were the lights of her life. She was also blessed with great grandchildren Kingston and Kayman Sprague, Hartley and Ford Brown, and Grace and Nora Soderdahl.
She was preceded in death by her parents Emile and Louise Lapeyre, her beloved husband Woody, her son Woodson A. Huggins Jr., and her brothers JM Lapeyre, Bubba Lapeyre, Louis Lapeyre, Jean Lapeyre, and Pierre Lapeyre.
Netsie and Woody built their life in Hollywood Park where they raised five children in a home full of faith, laughter, and love. She managed carpools, sports practices, and the beautiful chaos of family life with patience, creativity, and humor.
Netsie was a devoted member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, serving in many ministries including taking communion to the sick, ACTS retreats, and the Liturgy Team where they created beautiful environments in the church for every season. She lived her faith quietly and faithfully, touching lives in ways she never fully knew.
In her later years she lived at Brookdale Memory Care in Hollywood Park where she was cared for with dignity and compassion. Her family will always be grateful for the kindness shown to her in her final days.
Netsie was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother and great grandmother, and a woman of deep faith. Most of all she was the heart of her family and a gentle soul who taught us what unconditional love looks like.
A Rosary will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1602 Thousand Oaks Dr., San Antonio, Texas 78232 with the interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, specify it is for the Liturgy Team and their work in her memory.
Mom, Mimi, Netsie, we carry you with us always. We are truly blessed.
