Just saw the documentary about Andrei building his house. In the Netherlands it is called "De grote verbouwing Nieuw Zeeland" so sad to read that Andrei did not make it. Such a nice friendly and above all a very positive man who lost his life due to this awful illness. I respect him that he did all he could to make his dream come true and build this great home for his wife an daughter. RIP Andrei

Andrei was our Project Manager when we had our rebuild in 2014. I always said we had the best Project Manager in Christchurch. Nothing was any bother, he went above and beyond in helping us to have the best new home, managing to extract from the Insurance Company and the Building Company we were with, the things they said they would not give us! Always came to us with a huge smile, treated us like his grandparents, helped us willingly when he found us struggling with a difficult job. Andrei was a joy to know for a brief 9 months and are devastated to learn of his passing. Our sincere Condolences to the family. Zita and Allan Matthies

Andrei is my cousin and we spent many years as children at Aunty Nola and Uncle Kevins house while Dad and Uncle Kevin shared a flagon of beer in the lounge and Aunty Nola and Mum would have cuppas in the kitchen. Kids were sent outside to play :-)
Andrei was same age as my brother and they used to play a lot together in those days. I was 3 yrs older and too cool to play with boys.
I haven't seen Andrei for a few years as we both live in different countries. I remember coming to stay with him and Abby when they lived on the Gold Coast about 15 yrs ago now - time passes us all by so fast but we still have a lot of love for each other as family.
I am travelling home to say goodbye to Andrei who will now be at peace with his big brother Christopher.
Such a good kind man gone too soon

I hadn't known Andrie all that long, but when I first met him I was very impressed with his warm personality and kindness. I am also a NET patient, and I approached him to speak at a quiz I was organising to raise funds for the Unicorn Foundation. He was very willing to help and spoke at the quiz about his illness and informed the crowd what NETS are, and made a wonderful impression there.
I was very grateful that he had organised a very generous donation to the foundation. I have felt so sad that he is no longer with us, and he will be missed by many. My thoughts and sympathy to out to Abby and Alice and all Andrei's family. So sad, Marj Vaughan
