Alister JONES Obituary

JONES, Dr Alister Vallance: Peacefully in Ottawa, Canada, on March 27, 2015, age 91. Born in Christchurch to Frederick Edmund Jones and Nellie Marion Jones (nee Vallance). Attended the University of Canterbury, and earned his PhD in physics at Cambridge. He specialized in upper atmospheric physics at the University of Saskatchewan and National Research Council of Canada. Survived by his much-loved wife of 63 years, Catherine (nee Fergusson), daughters Elizabeth Marie Jones-Villeneuve (David) and Catriona Ann Jones (Michael Gallant), son Alasdair Frederick Vallance-Jones (Louise), and grandchildren Anne, Emily and Ian Villeneuve, David, Ben and Edward Gallant, and Laura, Anna, Kathleen and Caroline Jones.
