Dear Ron and Family
I was very sad to read of Alison's passing.
You won't remember me but I met Alison in her last year at Chch Girl's High. I am from Scotland too and my parents became friends of John and Jeanie's. I lost touch with Alison and Jeanie after John died, but I remember her as a very bubbly girl, who loved to laugh and have fun. I am so sad to hear that she has died at such a young age and send my sincere sympathy to you and your family.
With Best Regards
Maria Simmonds.

Our brave Alison my sympathy to Ronald and family.
Such along time i have been your friend kids were young and you would all come to the coast staying at Stillwater for holidays, and off each day Alison to do the family things she had planed. Alison found others on the coast who did patchwork and she had us doing classes with her aways seemed to have fabric and needle in hand AND always in a rush. So much of her sewing must be around Canterbury and the West Coast right to the end think the last was the quilt for Henry and such a lovely quilt it is.
Alison went of with husband for holiday and i just loved the emails i got most mornings telling me where she was and what they were doing, thing was i got see remember one hotel in germany was about to walk through and look at all the rooms she told me it was a posh place.I am sure she still has needle thread and fabric to show the angels how to do patchwork. You took so long to find work when you came to the coast even Work and Income took ages to take you on the full staff and you showed them what a great worker you were, even saw to me when i ended up on oxygen. Yes Alison you will be missed by many people, Pat

Alison, always in a rush, the girl who planned for school holidays when the family used to come and stay at Stillwater, wow what along time i have been friends with her. Those children of yours have so much to remember what mum did for them so many places, and once you moved kids were taken to sport and you took your sewing. There must be lots of people who have your patchwork plus some Hospitals. Took you so long to find work but you didnt give up and even Work and Income took time to take you on as full member, you helped so many and me when i got to be on oxygen yes Alison you sure have left your mark on this world even to that last quilt for Henry. That wonderful holiday you had that you shared with me sending emails so i could visit Holland and Germany could see where you were even to walking through a Hotel thanks Alison and thanks for your friendship. Now as you fly off into the blue with needle and thread to sew for the Angles dont make them sew too fast. Pat

sincere sympathy to your family Alison. You have been a great work colleague and friend, kind, generous, hard working, "quick to respond", and up for a challenge. We have been through good times and hard times, you will be remembered for many things, never short of a word, your way with words, your diaries, quotes of the day at what you called Wednesday woffle, Christmas fairy presentations, your one drink will last all night, sharing your patchwork and all the things you loved doing. You will be remembered for all of this but your dedication to your family, your enjoyment of life and love of all you did makes you pretty special. Your challenge to yourself and your fight to the end is true to your spirit, rest in peace my Scottish friend.
