Dear Jill, Dean and Family
I am shocked and very sad to hear of Alan's passing. We taught together at Paparoa Street School and got along famously, due in large part to Alan's dry wit. I was sorry when he left but knew he would be a fantastic principal.
He's gone much too soon. Please accept my sincere sympathy and love, Maria xx

WOW such a shock to hear a good man gone! Alan Sutton leaves behind a huge influence across the landscape of Rangiora and beyond. Our 4 children benefitted from his fine leadership at Rangiora Borough School, all of them now grown and flown. So many students, teachers and families would have been impacted over the years. You are farewelled with fond memories by the Hinman family one and all. We hope you enjoy a well-deserved retirement with the angels!

Jill,
Our thoughts are with you at this time. Keep your memories close and stay strong.
The Sutton and Wells families were joined at the hip due to the friendships of Avis, Joyce Frank and Keith. The 1960's are remembered fondly with barbecues on the Ashley river and many other fun times. Alan was an ever present part of activities.
Condolences to Heather, Geoff, and David.
Such sad news.

Jill, your loss is incomprehensible and words are inadequate but please know we believe Alan was a great man, taken too soon. He was strong, good and kind. He showed much compassion to our family. He always had a smile on his face and a joke to share. He even got me out of jury duty! Never forgotten. Smiles remain as tears fall. Memories shared and treasured. Thank you for sharing your Alan, our principal and boss.

Sad news. One of my close friends from high school and early days in Dunedin where Alan was at Teacher's Training College. Our Sunday afternoon Sake parties at his flat were legendary. Thoughts with Alan's family. RIP Al.

I worked many years ago with Alan at Paparoa Street School when I was in an itinerant role and then met him again in Rangiora when I was at Ashgrove and he had just started at Borough. A really lovely man and a great teacher. A loss to education as well as to his family. My thoughts and sympathy.

Sincere Condolences to Alan;s family
I was a flatmate of Alan's at Mill Rd in Whangarei in 1976, our first year of teaching. Judy and Mark were the other flatmate . We were all grads of Dunedin Teachers College.
We enjoyed so many funny times and laughed over cards, playing hockey with Mark in the backyard and how the cards were stacked against Judy when it came time to cut them to select who was the dishwasher for the Sunday night roast!
Your loss is keenly felt

I flatted with Alan(along with Judy and Mark) at Mill Road in Whangarei in 1976,in our first year of teaching, all from Dunedin Teachers College.
We played cards, cut cards to do the dishes, played hockey with Mark in the back yard and teased each other.
