Aileen Mary (nee Hollows):
11.11.1963 - 18.9.2020
Passed away peacefully at Clutha Health First, Balclutha, on Friday, September 18, 2020, after a long battle with cancer. Aileen was surrounded by family and slipped away with dignity. Dearly loved wife and best friend of Steve for 34 years, ad devoted mother to Hannah, and Abby. Loved daughter of Wattie (deceased) and Alice Hollows, and sister of Wayne, and Liz. Daughter-in-law of Bob (deceased) and Lynda Kaan and Neil and Robyn Clarke (Sydney). Sister-in-law to Michelle and Phil (Melbourne).
Aileen will leave a huge hole in many lives.
Special thanks to Chris Jackson and the team at Mercy, the lovely nurses at 8C in Dunedin, Hospice Otago, the District and ward nurses at Clutha Health First, and ambo's Ken and Suzie for taking care of her. A service for Aileen will be held in the Owaka Memorial Community Hall, on Thursday, September 24, at 1.00pm, followed by a private cremation. The service will be streamed on Zoom. To register for the Zoom service please email your name to [email protected] where you will be forwarded the link. At Aileen's request, those attending the service are encouraged to wear something bright and beautiful. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the South Otago Cancer Society would be appreciated and may be left at Aileen's service. Messages to 7 Stuart Street, Owaka 9535.

Arohanui to you Steve, Abby and Hannah. Aileen has been an inspiration, an activator, and a cherished friend to me and my family. I'm so sad at her passing. The world has lost a wonderful human being; someone who really gave a damn and wanted to make a difference. And what a legacy she leaves; for and through her whanau, her friends, her community. I feel so privileged to have met and worked with Aileen, so blessed to have known her as a friend, so thankful for her support in so many, many ways, and so inspired by the measurable difference she made. Aileen was a participant, not a passenger, a lifter not a leaner, a fellow traveler, not an observer. Her life was too short but what she had, she lived fully.
