Very sad to hear of Lyall's passing. He was a great member of the Woolston Hockey club and I will always cherish my early years in the late 60's with Lyalls' unwavering support of our junior hockey section.

Lyall was a great character and will be missed by his family and many friends. Even though we are far from Christchurch this day we are thinking of all who will attend his funeral and celebrate his life.

I am sorry to see Lyall has passed away. He was our local grocer at St Martins Foodmarket 1950's until becoming the proud and successful 1st owner of Riccarton New World where again he became our local grocer after I married and lived in Riccarton and also a client of mine for many years in the grocery trade. We new him through scouts and church Foodstuffs golf tournament and will always remember him his nod and smile.
