Our thoughts are with all Ian's family at their loss, at least he did not suffer a long illness. After I met Ian at the Caledonian Club in Bribene in 1989 I knew I wanted one of his boats. Now I have had two, Super Tramp and just got an F24 MK1, love it for cruising.

Dear Mrs. Farrier and family, also from France we feel for your sudden loss. Ian will continue to live and be remembered by the French Farrier boat community. We admired Ian for his fine designs but also for his humane interventions and assistance he gave to all F-boat sailors. Thanks to Ian I made very good F-friends. I'll always be thankful to Ian for having created for me, while sailing his designs, a very fine circle of local friends who will remember him fondly.

I only met him once in a Multi Symposium in the U.K. and corresponded with him a few times, most recently over some damage to my 27. He was extremely friendly, supportive and reassuring.
He will undoubtedly be missed and remembered even by those who weren't family, friends or colleagues. To them I offer my sympathy.

I never met Ian except in a phone call from 2006 and via a few emails as the owner of one of his boats and a set of his F 39 plans.

I am so sorry for your loss. Ian was an amazing person of unsurpassed integrity and high intellect, qualities seemingly so rare in today's world.

I feel a huge personal loss--and dreaded this day, so I can only try to imagine how those of you closest to him must feel.

My condolences and best regards,

I am another sailor who has had so much joy over 20+ years from Ian's brilliant sailboat designs, engineering and continued attention.
While my loss is but a tiny fraction of that suffered by his family and close friends, there are many thousands of us Farrier trimaran sailors effected as I have been.
Few people in this world leave it with so much joy in their wake.

To you and your family, our family mourns the loss yet celebrates the life of Ian. His life inspired ours and a couple generations of sailors. The world is a better place for all he gave to it.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Although your grief may seem unbearable, know that God wants to comfort you. Pour out your heart to him in prayer and experience the peace that only he can give. Jeremiah 29:11
