Les's advocacy for research in Cupola Basin was instrumental in me studying red deer there. Les was great to be out in the field with and more than generous sharing his ideas and giving advice. I remember my time with him well as a Forest Service Bursary student in Cupola Basin, Nelson Lakes. 1967-1969
