Mike was the type of person that made others feel better for being around him. He brought humour and warmth to VUW geology. He had a magnetic personality, could befriend anyone and was often found laughing with Monkey and Alex. I trust his legacy will continue in his three boys. Rest in peace Mike.

Very sorry to hear of Mike passing away. He was an old school mate and we had many a laugh flatting together somewhere in our 20's in Wellington also. He did love that hot sauce.

Very sad to hear that Mike passed away at such a young age. We studied together at Vic and had an unforgetable fieldtrip together at Golden Bay in 2003. Golden memories! PLease accept my deepest condolences for your family's loss.

Shocked to hear of our loss of Mike. I shared an office at Uni with Mike and he also gave me my first job as a geologist at Geotechnics. He will always be known for giving solid sound advice for any situation, some of which I still use this day
